German Cockroaches
Did you know the German cockroach is a native of tropical Africa? These pesky critters are found all over the world and enjoy settling into humid and dark places, ideally with a good place to snuggle up. Somewhere on them you will also see two dark brown stripes going down their backs, which look like a little shield between head and wings. They typically are a light brown or tan color, reach about 13 – 16mm in length.
One of the reasons it can be hard for people to get rid of German cockroaches is because they are small and fast, but they can also be a true bane to both homeowners and business owners. They breed quickly, so it can be difficult to rid yourself of them once they move into an area, not to mention they’re not the most sanitary houseguests! They can leave behind a stinky mess on food and surfaces and are carrier of germs such as salmonella and e.coli. Some people can even develop asthma from their droppings and shed skins.
The best way to stay clear of these annoying roaches is to keep your area neat and clean. Regular vacuuming, garbage disposal, and wiping down counter tops, floors and sinks can make a big difference. And if you find one, it’s a good idea to look out for any others that could be lurking in your walls or crevices.
